Rep. John Loughlin to Hold Health Care ‘Town Hall’ | September 30

JohnLoughlinCongressboy Patrick Kennedy’s likely Republican opponent, State Representative John J. Loughlin, has announced plans to host a health care “town hall” style meeting.

Loughlin’s town hall is scheduled to be held on September 30th at 5:30 PM at Brantal’s Restaurant, 91 Crandall Road, in Tiverton. Several medical professionals, including Edward J. Quinlan, president of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island, are scheduled to attend.

This is not a “political” event. It’s actually going to be a real discussion, with real questions and answers from the audience, about health care reform. This is something that Rep. Patrick Kennedy thus far has not found the time to do with his constituents in the First Congressional District.

Rep. Loughlin indicated that he will mail a DVD to Rep. Patrick Kennedy, since he’s very busy attending fundraisers and other events, including several in other states.

RNC Chair Michael Steele Plays the ‘Race Card’ on Obama

MichaelSteeleAnyone with a well-developed sense of irony will appreciate this bit of video:

RNC Chairman Michael Steele appeared “Face the Nation” on Sunday morning and was asked to comments on reports that President Obama personally telephoned New York Governor David Paterson (who is one of only two African-American governors in the country) — and who is polling at levels not seen since the Bubonic Plague — and asked him not to run in 2010.

Mr. Steele said: “I found that to be stunning, that the White House would send word to one of only two black Governors in the Country not to run for re-election.”
