‘Welcome Back Tea Party’ at RI State House | October 28

teatimeGird your loins and guard your pocketbooks: the RI General Assembly is coming back for a special “two day” session beginning on Wednesday, October 28th! There’s no doubt that they will be up to their old shenanigans of protecting the special interests and raising your taxes.

The union leadership and paid lobbyists will be there to protect the status quo. Please take the time to make YOUR VOICE HEARD. Make no mistake, If We the People Don’t Show Up, Our Taxes Will Go Up!

What: Welcome Back Tea Party
When: Wednesday, October 28th
Time: 3:30PM – 5:30PM
Where: Rhode Island State House (Smith Street/Main Entrance)

We will have a Press Conference during the rally with other state and local reform groups opposing binding arbitration. We will also provide EVERY legislator with a binder of resolutions from over 40 groups opposing this measure. This bill MUST be defeated.

Bring your signs and invite your friends. Hey, it’s Halloween week so feel free to dress in costume (kids too!) to make your statement! Let’s have fun and let the General Assembly know that we will hold them accountable for their actions.

Gio Cicione: A Quick Note

Republican PartyDear friends of the RIGOP:

A quick note today to draw your attention to two outstanding pieces of news.

The first, just announced this afternoon, is that State Education Commissioner Deborah Gist has just taken the bold, dramatic, and important move of putting an end to union seniority rules in our schools (http://newsblog.projo.com/2009/10/gist-orders-districts-to-aboli.html). What a great message that the children we teach are actually more important than the union bosses wrangling! (And those of you involved in the platform committee will note that this very issue has been a point of discussion for our education plank.)

The second item is an article (http://www.riponsociety.org/forum409h.htm) by Governor Carcieri that talks about the dramatic changes that his administration has worked on over the last seven years. The Governor is not by nature a self promoter, and while that’s refreshing to see in a politician, it’s also important to remind ourselves that a strong Republican Governor can have a real impact. Take a good look at the real reform he outlines, and then imagine how bad things would be if he hadn’t fought tooth and nail for all of us for the last seven years.

I’m proud to say that Republicans in Rhode Island continue to punch above their weight. I take news like this as a sign that we need to ‘bulk up’ (forgive the bad sports analogy) and do even more to support or Republican officials and candidates. Imagine the good we could do with even half the resources of the bad guys!

That being said, enjoy your weekend, stay dry, and give some thought as to what you can do to help us with the hard work of making Rhode Island great again!

Sincerely,

Gio

White House Tries to Bar Fox News From ‘Pay Czar’ Interview

obama-nixon…and the four other networks tell  the White House to go pound sand!

Yesterday, White House officials attempted to bar Fox New’s Major Garrett from a White House “pool” interview of the new “Pay Czar” (we’ll leave the czar discussion to another day). In a tremendous show of solidarity, the other four network members of the White House pool — ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN — all of whom have long shared the costs of pool coverage — with one voice told the White House that “it’s all of us, or none at all.” The White House then backed down.

Could anyone even imagine the Bush White House doing anything like this? Gladly, this unAmerican attempt to single-out and punish Fox News backfired on the White House badly. This is the type of behavior that one might expect of a propaganda operation of a totalitarian country. Fortunately, it still appears that we have a free press in America.

2009 NFRA ‘Right4America’ Convention | October 23-25

You are invited to register for the 2009 National Federation of Republican Assemblies “Right4America” Convention!

This year, for our bi-annual conference scheduled October 23-25, we are meeting in beautiful Reno, Nevada. Our hosts, the Nevada Republican Assembly, have been hard at work for months ironing out schedules, lodging, events, and more for your enjoyment!

The list of speakers and panel members is still being finalized, but I can drop a few names right now (in no particular order):

Grover Norquist – President of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), Chairman of the NFRA Economic Policy Committee, and the President of the District of Columbia Republican Assembly.

Floyd Brown – Chairman of the Western Center for Journalism, President of Excellentia Inc., a consulting company specializing in communications strategy and the marketing of ideas, and formerly served as the Executive Director of Young America’s Foundation.

Chris Simcox – Founder and President of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a national grassroots organization leading the fight to secure the U.S. border against illegal immigration, drug trafficking and terrorist encroachment.

Bruce Walker – Contributor to American Thinker and author.

Kellyanne Conway – President and CEO of WomenTrend, attorney, nationally recognized commentator, and author.

Mike Huckabee – Former Arkansas governor, host of HUCKABEE on the Fox News Channel, and author.

I think you will be very pleased at what we have lined up for you, from an amazing group of speakers, incredible events, a chance to compare notes on grassroots tactics, and time to connect with Republican Assembly members from around the country.

Hey, we’re even giving you the opportunity to let Harry Reid know exactly what you think of him and his Leftist policies! You can’t beat that with a stick!

This convention is going to be amazing. The hotel, the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, is phenomenal. The dinner cruise on Lake Tahoe prior to convention will take your breath away!

What’s not to love? Register for convention today!

P.S. Forward this to all of your Conservative friends! Let’s pack the house!
