Congressboy Patrick Kennedy Rambles and Rambles and…

patchesHe’s a Ramblin’ Man…

As if you needed one more reason to doubt Rep. Patrick Kennedy’s “lack of smarts,” here’s some additional proof.

This video is from a public housing dedication ceremony in Newport yesterday.

Rep. Kennedy, although he apparently had some pre-written notes with him at the podium, rambled on like a street person on crack about all sorts of things like Bernie Madoff, capitalism, healthcare, and anything else he could fit in. Audience members were reportedly quite … I can’t quite find the right word. Basically, he made no sense. It starts getting “good” near the 3 minute mark.

Prepare to waste 7 minutes of your life as you watch this. God help us all.

Fundraiser for Will Grapentine, House Dist. 69 | November 18

WillGrapentineWilliam Sousa Grapentine Announces “One-Year-Out” Fund-Raiser As The Countdown To 2010’s State Representative Campaign Begins!

BRISTOL, RI — With less than one year before the 2010 election — and following last week’s conservative political sweeps in Virginia and New Jersey — comes a reason to look forward! On WEDNESDAY, November 18th, at 7 PM at The Bristol Sports Club, 417 Wood St., Bristol, will be the official Countdown fund-raiser for William Sousa Grapentine to gear up for the 2010 run for State Representative!

After a nose-to-the-grindstone off-election year of Tea Parties, Town Halls, and letters to the editor in the name of small government and transparency, Mr. Grapentine — a lifelong, fourth generation Bristolian fighting to make a difference to his community — is hoping to bring The Great Communicator’s same sense of optimism and accountability to the Ocean State by prepping an early start to a hopeful 2010 election!

“Right now, with a spiraling economy and spiking unemployment at over thirteen percent, I feel that the best time to start showing alternatives for Rhode Island’s future is now”, Mr. Grapentine said.

Last year, Mr. Grapentine ran a tough race against an ardently partisan — and ethically challenged — incumbent who has been in the same office longer then George W. Bush EVER was (the Rep. is currently in his NINTH YEAR and admitted to ethics violations for three years in a row). Although he won reelection, there is a growing trend of political skepticism sweeping the state with long-comfortable and political leaders disconnected from their constituents while suspending our tax dollars and regulating our freedoms for countless legislative sessions.

For the “One-Year-Out” Event, join us for Hors d’oeuvres, Cash Bar, and Raffles for $20/person;$30/couple;$12 if under 30.

So to help start the one-year Countdown to Victory a campaign, I hope you will join us for the exciting event!: For additional information on Will Sousa Grapentine Campaign Fundraiser, contact Campaign Manager Adam Destremps.

VP Biden’s Security Detail Involved in 3rd Crash … This Week!

bidenhandsYou just know if Dick Cheney were still the Vice President, that this would merit a Congressional investigation, be on the front page of major newspapers, and be the lead story on the evening news. Perhaps President Obama should spend more time at home to watch over his little buddy.

A police car working ahead of Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade was involved in a minor traffic accident Tuesday evening, but it wasn’t part of the procession and the vice president was unhurt.

Three unmarked police vehicles, with their lights and sirens on, were traveling 5 to 10 minutes ahead of the motorcade on Manhattan’s West Side and were checking traffic before Biden passed en route to an appearance on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” chief police spokesman Paul Browne said…

Wheelchair Theft Spurs Family’s Donation

I don’t usually blog about non-political things here, but since this story involves my cousin Gina, her husband Scott, and her son Colby doing a good deed, I’ll make a happy exception. It was nice to read some good news regarding such an initially discouraging story about the theft of a wheelchair from a 3-year-old boy.

…When they came outside with 3-year-old D’Mauri, his wheelchair was gone. D’Andre, his mother, Latarcia Bonds, and his grandmother, Brenda Bonds, searched the area around 75 Congress St. where they live but couldn’t find it.

It was an agonizing turn of events for the family because D’Mauri, who is developmentally delayed and cannot talk, needed the custom-made wheelchair to get to school. After learning that her insurance company wasn’t about to pay to replace the $2,800 chair, Latarcia turned to the media to make a plea to whoever took the chair to return it.

Thursday night there was a happy ending. Gina and Scott Wallace’s 6-year-old son Colby recently outgrew a similar chair that he had been using since he was a year old. Wednesday night, the East Providence couple said they saw an account of the stolen chair on Channel 12…

Late Thursday afternoon, after receiving calls all day from Rhode Islanders offering help, the Channel 12 news crew phoned Brenda Bonds and said there was a family who wanted to donate a similar chair.

When the Wallaces drove up to the house at 6:30 p.m. with the stroller-like chair, Brenda Bonds said she felt ecstatic. While the chair was a tad smaller than the one D’Mauri had been using, she said, it was a perfect replacement. “This is awesome. We’re so grateful.”…
