The first open meeting of The Rhode Island Tea Party will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, from 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Warwick Public Library, Room 101, 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick, RI.
The purpose of the meeting is to begin organizing and establishing action plans for the Tea Party’s future. This is a very important meeting and we seek your active participation.
Thanks to the commitment, creativity and energy of our members, The Rhode Island Tea Party has had a very successful start since over 3,000 of us demonstrated at the State House on April 15th. We have made sure that the voice of The People is heard in both Providence and Washington, and we are considered a significant political force. Now we need to build on that foundation and get involved pro-actively in our government to achieve the goals of our mission statement:
“We the People of the RI Tea Party endeavor to promote good government practices by advocating for fiscal responsibility, accountability, and a return to the core principles set forth in our State and US Constitutions by our forefathers.”
To achieve this vision we must go far beyond protests. Our strategy is to engage in active citizen governance. It is time for us to roll up our sleeves and get involved in real political action. When we met at the State House in June we told our elected officials, “You work for us.” It is time for us to exercise our right to supervise our government and hold it accountable.
We envision a somewhat decentralized organization of members conducting a variety of projects to accomplish this. You may also contribute your ideas by emailing to: ideas [at] riteaparty [dot] net
We look forward to seeing you on the 24th!
