Calling All South Kingstown Area Tea Partiers!

grassrootsNote: Former Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey has confirmed that he will be participating in this forum as well. Should be interesting.

At 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15th, the SKGOP is holding an open meeting at Casey’s Grill and Bar in Wakefield. The focus of the meeting is to bring small government groups and center right organizations to speak about their collective efforts.

Most notably, The Tea Party movement is the most encouraging development in political dynamics in many years, if not generations. The newly engaged and aware voters embodied by the Tea Party are changing the way our elected officials think and act. The concepts of freedom and individual liberty must be at the core of the SKGOP. They dominate my actions to be sure.

I encourage Tea Partiers to overwhelm this meeting. Colleen Conley has been invited to say some words. Her efforts and your passion are shaking the process. I am a Tea Partier myself trying to infuse the political process with freedom seekers. Our congressman or congresswoman 15 years from now may be sitting on a Town Council next year. There is nothing closer to “grass roots” than town level activism and the SKGOP is committed to shaking the status quo in South Kingstown and beyond.

I hope to see you there. Do not hesitate to call or write me with any comments, questions or even inflamed criticism!!

Weekly Republican Address Delivered by Rep. Marsha Blackburn

In this week’s Republican address, Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee discusses President Obama’s frightening environmental policy.

This is an excerpt of her comments:

President Obama himself has said that as a result of this national energy tax, electricity prices would, and I quote, “necessarily skyrocket.” His own Department of Energy has determined that millions of jobs would be lost.

Since Democrats in Congress have failed to get a cap and trade bill to the President’s desk ahead of the Copenhagen Summit, President Obama took unilateral action this week to pile more regulation on the backs of families and small businesses in the name of combating global warming. On Monday the President’s EPA administrator, Lisa Jackson, took the first step toward imposing costly new regulations on businesses for emitting carbon. My bill, H.R. 391 would stop the EPA.

Just think of what will happen to small businesses and manufacturers hit with these skyrocketing energy bills, especially when nations like India and China don’t agree to these mandatory emissions limits. With Americans already facing double-digit unemployment, there could not be a worse time to unilaterally disarm our engines of job creation and economic growth.
