Cuban Dictator Fidel Castro Endorses ObamaCare

…Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro on Thursday declared passage of American health care reform “a miracle” and a major victory for Obama’s presidency, but couldn’t help chide the United States for taking so long to enact what communist Cuba achieved decades ago.

“We consider health reform to have been an important battle and a success of his (Obama’s) government,” Castro wrote in an essay published in state media, adding that it would strengthen the president’s hand against lobbyists and “mercenaries.”…

And he said it was remarkable that the most powerful country on earth took more than two centuries from its founding to approve something as basic as health benefits for all.

“It is really incredible that 234 years after the Declaration of Independence … the government of that country has approved medical attention for the majority of its citizens, something that Cuba was able to do half a century ago,” Castro wrote…

Public Rally to Celebrate States’ Rights | Saturday

On March 27, 2010, a group of concerned citizens will be holding a rally from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Rhode Island State House to celebrate the 9th and 10th Amendments to the U. S. Constitution. The Rally is open to the public and will be held on the front steps of the State House.

Speakers who have been invited to speak are Governor Donald L. Carcieri, Representative Joseph A. Trillo (R-Dist. 24 Warwick), and Representative John J. Loughlin (R-Dist. 71 Little Compton, Portsmouth, Tiverton). A complete listing of speakers will be posted early next week on the web site: http://www.rhodeislandtenthamendmentcenter.com.

The rally will be hosted by Helen Glover of Talk Radio 920 WHJJ.

The 9th Amendment, entitled “Construction of Constitution,” reads “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”

The 10th Amendment, entitled “Powers of the States and People,” reads “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Representative Joseph A. Trillo submitted a House resolution (H-7030) in January calling on President Obama and the Congress to refrain from enacting any law or imposing on the states any regulation that would encroach on any powers reserved to the people or the States in the 9th and 10th Amendments.
