A Response to Mexican President’s Address to Congress

Shortly after the President of Mexico addressed a joint session of the United States Congress today, in which he directly criticized the state of Arizona regarding its recently adopted illegal immigration law, Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) took to the floor of the House to denounce his remarks. The congressman made special note of mentioning Mexico’s own very exclusionary immigration policies, in sharp contrast to our own.

Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA): “It is a disgrace that he would be cheered on from the left wing of the White House and by many Democrats in this Congress.”

Best Political Ad … Ever?

Dale Peterson is running for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner. It’s apparently a much more important office in Alabama than it is in Rhode Island.

This amazingly well crafted ad has been going viral all over the Internet, so we thought we’d share it with you.

Perhaps a few Republican candidates in Rhode Island could follow his lead…

East Providence Republican City Committee Endorsements

The East Providence Republican City Committee held its May meeting this evening (immediately prior to a fundraiser for our State Senate District 18 candidate Stephen Gerling) for the purpose of considering a limited set of endorsements for several important offices, including U.S. Congress (District 1), R.I. Attorney General, and R.I. Governor.

After presentations and some discussion, the East Providence Republican City Committee issued the following endorsements for the following five offices:

R.I. Governor – John Robitaille

R.I. Attorney General – Erik Wallin

U.S. Congress in District 1 – Rep. John Loughlin

R.I. House in District 62 – Thomas Clupny

R.I. Senate in District 18 – Stephen Gerling

All offices were voted on individually. All votes were unanimous. Our remaining committee endorsements for E.P. School Committee, E.P. City Council, all remaining R.I. General Assembly offices, and any other statewide races will be voted on at our June meeting.

Kick-off Fundraiser for Stephen Gerling | Wednesday

There will be a “Recover the Senate” Fundraiser for Stephen Gerling, Republican candidate for Rhode Island State Senate in District 18, on Wednesday, May 19th, 2010. It will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, at 50 Crescent View Ave, in Riverside. There will be several guest speakers, including Republican candidate for Governor, John Robitaille.

Steve is running in Senate District 18 (which includes about half of East Providence, and all of Riverside). This will be a three-way race, including a vulnerable freshman Democrat, plus a well-known Democrat, who is running as an Independent. This is a very winnable race for the GOP!

This is Steve’s first exclusive fundraising event of the 2010 election cycle. Come and enjoy a great time, as East Providence residents and others show their support for Steve and the recovery of the city! There will be light appetizers and a cash bar.

RSVP appreciated, but not required. Tickets can be paid for by mail or at the door.

Personal checks can be mailed to:

Friends of Stephen Gerling
150 Peach Orchard Dr.
Riverside, RI, 02915

Facebook users can RSVP via this link

RSVP may also be sent by e-mail to: gerling4statesenate18 [at] hotmail [dot] com

Please Note: In addition, there will be a brief meeting of the East Providence Republican City Committee just before Steve’s fundraiser, from about 6:15 PM to 7:00 PM. On the meeting agenda will be votes by the city committee on endorsements for several statewide races, including RI Governor, RI Attorney General, and US Congress (and of course, RI State Senate District 18!). Feel free to arrive early to watch. However, only EPGOP members can actually vote.
