Paul Ryan: Fiscal Year Ends in Fiscal Failure

House Democrats preside over unprecedented budget collapse; break for recess prioritizing election over stopping looming tax hikes

WASHINGTON – House Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan (WI-01) issued the following statement after House Democrats’ passed a short-term stop-gap spending bill to fund the Federal government, failing to complete any of the 12 annual Appropriations bills, failing to pass a budget resolution, failing to take action to stop the looming tax hikes:

“The fiscal year will end much as it began, with Congress exacerbating our unsustainable budget trajectory. Consumed with their reckless borrowing and spending spree, House Democrats called it quits after failing to send any of the annual Appropriations bills to the President’s desk and failing to even propose a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Operating with no budget to prioritize taxpayer dollars, Congress agreed to a $1.1 trillion Continuing Resolution to keep the government from shutting down.

“Making matters worse, Democratic leaders failed to take action to stop looming tax increases from hitting families and small businesses. A growing bipartisan consensus stands united against the Democratic leaders’ refusal to prevent across the board tax increases amidst continued economic hardships, fostering greater economic uncertainty and stifling job creation.

“This year’s budget breakdown is particularly troubling given the $1.3 trillion deficit and $13 trillion debt. The unemployment rate remains too high and economic growth remains too low. Congress missed a critical opportunity to stop the looming tax hikes, restrain the explosive growth of government spending, and advance an agenda of real reform.”

Minuteman Project Coming to Providence | October 1

Minuteman Project Coming to Providence!

The Minuteman Project, in conjunction with Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement (RIILE), is coming to Providence, Rhode Island to support Rhode Island Democratic State Representative Peter G. Palumbo’s Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act, an Arizona-style immigration law enforcement bill, the Governor’s E-Verify Executive order and Immigration Law Enforcement in general.

On October 1st, we hope to encourage the Rhode Island legislature to pass Representative Palumbo’s bill and E-Verify legislation, thus setting a precedent for the other New England states to follow.

Every state in the Union, including each New England state, is a border state with Mexico now. As California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas have become overwhelmed by a massive inflow of illegal aliens, previously untouched states are now the destination points of an endless stream of illegal aliens from around the world.

The Minuteman Project, and RIILE, will assemble at the Rhode Island State House in Providence, Rhode Island on October 1, 2010, 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM, to bring public awareness to the pejorative consequences of our nation’s decades-long, bureaucratically ignored, reckless disregard for U.S. immigration laws.

We invite political representatives, both incumbents and aspiring candidates and the leaders of Government watchdog groups along with their members from every state to join us in this public event advocating immigration law enforcement.

Representatives from and members of all political parties are welcome to participate in this event regardless of political party affiliation. Persons from recognized media outlets, or any law enforcement organization, are warmly welcomed to join us.

The event will be broadcast on the Helen Glover WHJJ Talk Radio Show.

If you have any questions please contact RIILE at riile2 [at] cox [dot] net or 401-475-2410 so that we can plan for your on-site presence.

See you in Providence on October 1, 2010.

Could Subprime Barney Go Down in Flames?

Could it be? Could Subprime Barney go down in flames? Could we have a fairy tale ending on November 2nd?

Former President Bill Clinton will lend his star power to veteran Democratic Rep. Barney Frank (Mass.) at an afternoon rally on Sunday.

The 42nd president’s appearance with the powerful 15-term House member comes as conservative bloggers and commentators have energized nationwide support for Frank’s GOP challenger, 35-year-old former Marine Sean Bielat. (Bielat now serves in the Marine reserves.)

Bielat said Clinton’s visit shows that Frank is getting nervous about his reelection bid.

“It means he’s taking us seriously, he realizes that there is a threat this year. I don’t think he’s campaigning effectively, but he hasn’t had to do it since the ’80s,” Bielat said in an interview with The Hill…

RIGOP Chair Reacts to Board of Elections Decision

RI REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN GIOVANNI CICIONE REACTS TO BOARD OF ELECTIONS DECISION

Warwick – RI Republican Party Chairman Giovanni Cicione today applauded the dismissal by the RI Board of Elections of a complaint filed by Kara Russo, unsuccessful candidate for RI Lieutenant Governor and US Representative. “I would like to thank the RI Board of Elections for rendering its decision this afternoon to reject Ms. Russo’s frivolous claim. I hope that today’s decision will bring an end to Ms. Russo’s relentless campaign of self-promotion, at least for this election cycle,” stated Cicione.

“Ms. Russo made mockery of the electoral process by declaring her candidacy for two offices at the same time,” continued Chairman Cicione. “Knowing full well that she could not possibly serve in both positions for which she was on the ballot, Ms. Russo has no right to claim that she was a legitimate candidate for either. Further, realizing that her conflicting candidacies could not be taken seriously, she never even requested an endorsement from the RI Republican Party, but instead chose to run disruptive primary campaigns against both Heidi Rogers and John Loughlin, our endorsed Republican candidates.”

Ms. Russo continued her 2010 campaign of shameless self promotion by filing a frivilous complaint with the Board of Elections. “Clearly, Ms. Russo gave no thought to the dangerous precedent that would have been set had she succeeded with her ill-advised request for the Board of Elections to override Rhode Island’s statutory and Constitutional process of elections in favor of her own self-interest,” concluded Cicione.
