Brown GOP: ‘Capitalism Without Guilt’ | Wednesday

On Wednesday night, September 28th, the Brown University Republicans are hosting Yaron Brook, President of the Ayn Rand Institute, at the C.V. Starr Auditorium in MacMillan Hall (167 Thayer Street), who will be lecturing on the topic of “Capitalism Without Guilt: The Moral Case for Freedom.” The event begins at 7:00 pm and is FREE and open to the public. The Rhode Island Young Republicans will be there in support, and to participate in this exciting lecture. As always, please join the RI Young Republicans at Paragon Restaurant (234 Thayer Street) for the post-lecture “after-party.”

In the wake of bailouts, stimulus packages, regulatory expansion, and a massive new entitlement program, ObamaCare, many Americans are alarmed by the rapid growth of the state. But previous rebellions against Big Government, such as the “swing to the right” of the 1980s, failed to substantially roll back government intervention in the economy. Will today’s revolt be different? In this talk, Yaron Brook will offer his assessment, based on a revolutionary view of why government intervention grows, and what must be done to stop it. His provocative conclusion: To successfully stop the growth of the state, Americans will have to discover that laissez-faire capitalism is the only moral system – one that must be defended without guilt.

NFRA: Blackwell, Angle Appointed to NFRA Board

We told you we had big news… And when we promise, we deliver!

We are thrilled to announce our two newest NFRA Vice Presidents: Ambassador Ken Blackwell and former U.S. Senate nominee Sharron Angle!

These heroes of the conservative cause are longtime supporters and members of the Republican Assembly movement. But today, they take their places in the formal leadership of the NFRA, America’s only conservative group dedicated entirely to reforming the Republican Party and taking it back for its overwhelming conservative majority.

That is why Ken Blackwell has joined the NFRA leadership as Executive Vice President.

Ken Blackwell served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Commission, Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Mayor of Cincinnati and Ohio Secretary of State before running for Ohio Governor in 2006. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Republican National Committee’s Platform Committee and Senior Fellow for Family Empowerment at the Family Research Council. He serves on the boards of the Club for Growth and the National Taxpayers Union and is a member of the National Rifle Association’s public affairs committee. Amb. Blackwell is a noted columnist, commentator, and leader of the effort to reform the Republican Party.

Tea Party hero Sharron Angle is joining our team as Western Region Vice President.

Sharron Angle, a lifelong educator, is most recognized for her 2010 campaign to oust Senator Harry Reid. She began her career in public office on the Nye County School Board, and fought to protect the Constitution as a member of the Nevada State Assembly, for which she received the Claremont Institute Ronald Reagan Freedom Medallion. Sharron is dedicated in her outreach to the Tea Parties, and recently completed a tour with the Tea Party Express “Reclaiming America Presidential Tour”. She is a longtime member of the Republican Assembly movement, and we were among her first endorsers for U.S. Senate.

Ken and Sharron have worked side by side with us for years. Now they have stepped forward to help lead us to victory in 2012 and beyond. A new day — and a new conservative Republican Party — begins here.

For Freedom,

Rod D. Martin

RI Republican Assembly Meeting | September 15

This is a reminder that Rhode Island’s largest Conservative organization, the RHODE ISLAND REPUBLICAN ASSEMBLY, will hold its next meeting on Thursday, September 15th, 2011 (Please note that this is a change from our standard “second Thursday” meeting schedule, which will resume in October).

The RIRA monthly meeting will be held in the lower-level of Tri-City Elk’s Lodge No. 14, at 1915 West Shore Road, in Warwick. For those wishing to eat before the RIRA meeting commences, dinner is available between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. The cost for dinner is about $8.00 per person. There is also a Cash Bar available. The RIRA business meeting begins at 7:00PM.

The RIRA is the Rhode Island affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a thoughtful national organization of GOP conservatives working to grow and strengthen the Republican Party in the tradition of President Ronald Reagan. This is a dinner meeting, and if you want to eat, you pay for your own meal. Any like-minded conservative Republican is welcome to attend.

For more information, please contact RIRA President Raymond McKay at 401-487-2514 or president [at] ri-ra [dot] org.
