RI Redistricting Committee Meeting | Thursday

David Cicilline’s staff is actively engaged in changing the Congressional District maps to favor him for the 2012 election. According to Channel 12, “Common Cause Rhode Island, and the campaigns of Republicans Doherty and John Loughlin, have seized on the fact the map would move roughly 125,000 people between Cicilline’s and Langevin’s districts when the latest Census required that only about 7,200 be moved.”

No matter which candidate you are supporting for Congressional District 1, the Redistricting Committee appears to be close to recommending “Map E,” that will hurt any Republican challenger to David Cicilline. With this in mind you are urged to attend the next Redistricting Committee meeting which will be held on Thursday night at 6:00pm at the Rhode Island State House in Room 313 to voice your opposition to this proposal. You are also urged to address the Committee and ask that they not recommend a map that will assist David Cicilline with reelection in 2012.

Please come and show your support.

‘Give Governor Chafee Heck’ Rally | Wednesday

Want to show Governor Chafee that you’re mad as heck and won’t take it anymore? Here’s your chance!

There will be a rally at the Rhode Island State House, on Wednesday, October 5th, starting at 5:00 PM, concerning the Chafee administration’s position on rewarding illegal immigration. Gov. Chafee has usurped his role as our state’s leader by positioning certain people to do his bidding, instead of doing the will of the people of Rhode Island, as recently witnessed at a Board of Governors meeting, which granted illegal aliens in-state tuition.

Although this rally will mainly concern Chafee’s stance on illegal immigration, please feel free to invite anyone who is upset with Governor Chafee for any reason (we know there are plenty of reasons!). Feel free to bring signs. John Depetro will be the emcee; Helen Glover will be there, too, as well as Terry Gorman from RIILE, plus some General Assembly members, such as event organizer Rep. Doreen Costa and Senators Maher and Cote. The new Ocean State Tea Party In Action, and a few other good government groups will also be participating. It should be fun!

Third Annual Tax Day Rally | Friday

The RI Tea Party will sponsor its Third Annual Tax Day Rally on April 15, 2011 from 4PM-6PM at the RI State House. Our focus this year is squarely on Governor Chafee’s outrageous budget proposal in which he plans to raise $165M by taxing broad swaths of the RI economy, including heating oil, water, myriad services. and previously exempt items. Business groups and citizens alike are invited to attend the rally to strongly encourage the General Assembly to reject this budget and instead make the spending cuts necessary to put our economy back on track.

The agenda includes several prominent representatives from the business community who will share how these new job-killing taxes will effect all Rhode Islanders. This family friendly event will also feature a live band, local musicians, activities for children, and a MUST SEE Media Moment at the 5PM and at the end of the rally. Don’t Miss This MUST ATTEND event!

The RI Tea Party is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with so many other groups and associations who will be represented at this years Rally in saying NO MORE! We are Taxed Enough Already!

What: Tax Day Rally

Date: Friday, April 15, 2011

Time: 4PM-6PM
