Calling All South Kingstown Area Tea Partiers!

grassrootsNote: Former Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey has confirmed that he will be participating in this forum as well. Should be interesting.

At 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 15th, the SKGOP is holding an open meeting at Casey’s Grill and Bar in Wakefield. The focus of the meeting is to bring small government groups and center right organizations to speak about their collective efforts.

Most notably, The Tea Party movement is the most encouraging development in political dynamics in many years, if not generations. The newly engaged and aware voters embodied by the Tea Party are changing the way our elected officials think and act. The concepts of freedom and individual liberty must be at the core of the SKGOP. They dominate my actions to be sure.

I encourage Tea Partiers to overwhelm this meeting. Colleen Conley has been invited to say some words. Her efforts and your passion are shaking the process. I am a Tea Partier myself trying to infuse the political process with freedom seekers. Our congressman or congresswoman 15 years from now may be sitting on a Town Council next year. There is nothing closer to “grass roots” than town level activism and the SKGOP is committed to shaking the status quo in South Kingstown and beyond.

I hope to see you there. Do not hesitate to call or write me with any comments, questions or even inflamed criticism!!

South Kingstown GOP Meeting w/ AG Candidate Erik Wallin

skgopThe next meeting of the SKGOP will be on Thursday, September 17th at Casey’s Grill and Bar in Wakefield, beginning at 7:00PM. In addition to AG candidate Erik B. Wallin, US Rep 2nd District Candidate Mark Zaccaria will be attending. Note details of the evening below. Please forward to all interested parties.

Also, look forward to a lively discussion about health care! This has been an issue that the SKGOP has paid close attention to over the past 4 years. The issue has become the proverbial and ideological straw that broke the American public’s tolerance for ever expanding government. Many that were apathetic to the process one year ago have now engaged in the public discourse. These individuals new to the process have brought energy, insight, passion, and skepticism and directed all towards our public officials in ways that few have witnessed. After the President’s speech to Congress last Wednesday, it is more important than ever to be armed with the facts about health care reforms proposed by both the left and the right.

Nationally, the GOP has introduced dozens of reform ideas that do not see the light of the day with Speaker Pelosi determining the legislative agenda and the main stream media with its own agenda. My efforts with the State of RI Health Insurance Commissioner and the Governor’s Office are largely diluted by the numerous stakeholders in the mix and a dominated General Assembly. Even the SKGOP’s efforts in town are stifled by a Town Council and School Committee dominated by the left. I will speak to these efforts and answer any questions I can. I will also need your help on this issue.

An advanced congratulations and sincere thank you to all involved in organizing the rallies occurring tomorrow in Washington DC and Providence. The 9-12 project and the affiliated Tea Party movement that have sustained since the beginning of the year are among the most encouraging developments in this off election year.
