RIRA-PAC WinterFest Fundraiser Postponed

In deference to the “Thank You” Lunch for former Providence GOP Chair Dave Talan at the same time, as well as due to the multiple other GOP events which will also happening on Saturday, March 5th, RIRA will be postponing the WinterFest Sales Gala Event which was to occur on March 5th.

The event has tentatively been rescheduled to Saturday, March 26th. We expect that it will still be held at the same venue, the Coventry-West Greenwich Elks Lodge on Route 3, and likely at the same time (1:00 to 4:00 pm). We will update you when we have more definitive details.

PS The RIRA Executive Committee will still be meeting on Saturday at 9:30 AM at the usual location.

Barrington School Committee Special Election | Tuesday

We have the opportunity to help score the first election win of 2011. Chris Ramsden is running for Barrington School Committee and has a great shot to win. Election day is Tuesday, January 18th. Yep, that is tomorrow. We need to start off this year with a positive showing and deliver real political capitol to a solid GOP candidate. Here are your six reasons to get off your butt and create some action for Chris Ramsden…

1. Chris has been a Barrington resident for 17 years and understands the issues facing Barrington Public Schools and has perspective to help guide our school system in the future.

2. Chris is a parent of two high school aged children and is married to a pre-school teacher.

3. Chris is a US Navy veteran. He served five years as an engineering officer onboard the USS Elliot, a destroyer based out of San Diego CA.

4. Chris is a solutions focused pragmatist who is fiscally responsible.

5. Chris has 25 years of business experience in budgeting, finance, operations and large construction projects.

6. Chris is the CEO of a successful local business with 185 employees and has leadership needed to guide Barrington Public Schools.

Great, now that you and I agree that Chris is a great candidate, let’s win this election. Two easy ways to get in the game.

• Make phone calls: All you need to do is email me at Ryan [at] rVotes [dot] com with your first and last name. An account will be created and you can make calls from the comfort of your snow covered abode. Making 20 calls take less than 40 minutes and shows that you are in the Rhode Island Young Republicans to help elect RIGOPers into office. Chris McAuliffe is helping make calls and he is in Florida right now. No excuse, email me and knock-out 20 calls. The YR with the most calls will win a HUGE iTunes gift card worth $50.

• Canvass Barrington: We are looking for volunteers to walk Barrington and drop literature today and to work the polls on Tuesday. This is a great way to help educate the voters of Barrington and prove that YRs are willing to get the grunt work down. Interested in helping? Hit up Pat Sweeney and tell him you are in it to win it. Pat Sweeney’s email is patricksweeneyesq [at] gmail [dot] com.

Less than 36 hours ‘til polls close in Barrington. What are you going to do to help deliver the first RIGOP win? Time to get active. This is a huge opportunity and we will make the most if it. After last year’s political cycle, some think the Rhode Island Young Republicans are more of a social club than a political organization. I have heard the following… “When there is an open bar, you will find a YR”. Well, true as that may be, we are also a talented crew that has political strength to deliver. Make 20 calls or help Chris out today and tomorrow. Get the first win for 2011, so we can say the “Rhode Island Republican Party has won 100% of elections in 2011.”

Questions? Call me up at 847.858.9300 anytime.

Respectfully submitted,

Ryan Neil Lund

RNC “Fire Pelosi” Bus to Visit RI

REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE’S FIRE PELOSI BUS TOUR TO VISIT RHODE ISLAND

RNC Chairman, Michael Steele to Headline Fundraising Event and Victory Rally in Support of RI Republican Candidates

Warwick – RI Republican Party Chairman Giovanni Cicione today announced that RNC Chairman Michael Steele will again visit Rhode Island on October 24 and 25, 2010 to support the RI GOP and Republican candidates for local, state and federal offices. Chairman Steele will be the special guest at a party unity event to be held on Sunday, October 24th in Portsmouth. On Monday, Chairman Steele and the RNC’s Fire Pelosi Bus Tour will hold a Victory Rally at the headquarters of the RI Republican Party. The Victory Rally, which will be open to the public, will begin at 9:30 am on Monday October 25th at the Headquarters of the RI Republican Party, located at 1800 Post Road, in Warwick and all Rhode Islanders are welcome to come and voice their support for common sense solutions in Washington.

“We are thrilled to have the support of the Republican National Committee and to welcome Chairman Steele back to Rhode Island,” stated RI Republican Party Chairman, Giovanni Cicione. “The Fire Pelosi Bus Tour not only will remind Rhode Island voters why it is so important to send our Republican candidates to Congress to fight against the culture of reckless spending in Washington, but also will highlight the strength of our Republican candidates for statewide and local offices who will bring an end to the wasteful spending and the resulting tax increases here in Rhode Island.”

Prior to Election Day, the RNC’s Fire Pelosi Bus Tour will have visited all forty eight states in the Continental U.S. The mission of the bus tour is to get-out-the-vote for Republican candidates in key districts, energize supporters heading into the final days of the election, and bring the Republican message of fiscal responsibility and limited government directly to the voters. The bus is emblazoned with the simple phrase, “Need a Job? Fire Pelosi!”

“The failed policies coming out of Washington, DC perpetuate the high unemployment, skyrocketing debt, and an unprecedented expansion of the federal government that are creating economic uncertainty, preventing job growth and bankrupting our future,” continued Cicione. “The Fire Pelosi Bus Tour will highlight for Rhode Island voters the commonsense alternatives offered by Republican candidates. Rhode Island’s economy continues to flounder and our citizens deserve better,” concluded Cicione. “Rhode Islanders need to know that Republican candidates offer real alternatives to the unchecked spending and higher taxes, at both the state and federal levels that have kept our economy from moving forward.”

During the six week period between September 15 and Election Day, the Fire Pelosi Bus Tour is scheduled to visit more than 100 different cities and to travel more than 14,000 miles from coast to coast. The tour is intended to support local Republican Parties and candidates, as well as efficiently use online efforts to maximize grassroots support. Throughout its journey, the Tour has focused on reaching grassroots supporters and volunteers who are excited about this election and want to put America back on the right track.

RI Health Insurance Rates Up Over 40%

The RI Tea Party is encouraging individuals and small business owners to attend a committee meeting on Tuesday, October 19th at 4:30pm, in the briefing room at the Department of Labor and Training , Pontiac Avenue in Cranston, held by Commissioner Chris Koller, RI Department of Health . Representatives from all 3 health insurers in RI will be in attendance.

“BCBS has recently sent out renewal notices of over 40% increases; the lucky ones received increases of approximately 20%”, states Lisa Blais, Board Member of the RI Tea Party. ” This is all while we are overtaxed and paying for rich health insurance benefits for our public sector employees. So much for having an advocate at the Department of Health. So much for having an advocate in Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts, who claims she has done great things for health insurance coverage in RI. Instead small businesses and direct purchasers of health insurance are being forced to pay unacceptably high rate increases.” Ms. Blais cites an example of this outrageous premium hike. “How does going from $1140.00 per month for 2 healthy adults to just shy of $2 thousand sound to you?”

Come to the meeting and let your voices be heard!
