The main agenda item will have to do with “GOTV” for the vote on Wednesday, November 16th (at the RIGOP meeting) regarding the RI Republican Primary. We have a special project which we will need help with following the business meeting. The guest speaker for the meeting will be Terry Gorman from Rhode Islanders for Immigration Law Enforcement (RIILE), who will be talking with us about in-state tuition for illegal alien students. We will also be discussing the U.N.’s Agenda 21.

As you may recall, Eric was the featured performer at the RIRA’s “Conservative Comedy Night” fundraiser back in May. We appreciated the positive reference to the Rhode island Republican Assembly (RIRA):

…The NFRA calls itself the “Republican wing of the Republican Party.” When the GOP decides to cave in to the left, the NFRA is there to remind everyone the benefit of standing on conservative principles.

The head of the NFRA is Rod Martin, and his organization has chapters throughout the United States from Rhode Island to Hawaii. In Rhode Island, the Republican Assembly often has larger gatherings at meetings than the GOP itself.

The convention was a successful showcase of rising stars in the GOP…

So much is happening on the ground in Iowa, we don’t have time to tell you everything, but here are some highlights:

We’ve confirmed Santorum, Paul, Cain, Gingrich, and Anita Perry – and we’re in talks with the rest.

National media is coming: NBC, C-SPAN, CNN, Human Events, WorldNetDaily – and those are just the ones we know about.

Iowans are coming: If you have friends and family in Iowa (and we know you do) tell them about the Straw Poll, and make sure they come to support their candidate – or figure out who their candidate is if they aren’t sure yet. This is why we chose Iowa for convention! $20 gets them in the door, to the candidates, and lunch to boot. It’s a great deal! Straw Poll tickets are available on the convention website.

It isn’t too late to register for convention, but it is getting close. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime event!

We’re going to need your help. We are rolling out the carpet to Iowans and the candidates. We’ll be calling on you to help us put NFRA’s best foot forward. If you can help, or can serve in particular ways, please reply to this email so we can connect you with the Hospitality Committee. Everything is in place but you!

The RIRA monthly meeting will be held in the lower-level of Tri-City Elk’s Lodge No. 14, at 1915 West Shore Road, in Warwick. For those wishing to eat before the RIRA meeting commences, dinner is available between 6:00pm and 7:00pm. The cost for dinner is about $8.00 per person. There is also a Cash Bar available. The RIRA business meeting begins at 7:00PM.

We have a lot of business on the agenda. First, we will be discussing the upcoming debate (Monday, October 17th) and vote (Wednesday, November 16th) to restrict voting in RI Republican primaries to actual Republican voters. Second, we will be formally electing our delegates to the National Federation of Republican Assemblies Presidential Preference Convention, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa (October 28-30). Over half of the GOP presidential field are confirmed to appear. If you a RIRA member in good standing, you are eligible to be elected as a delegate, providing that you plan to attend the convention. Please contact President McKay before or at Thursday’s meeting if you would like to be considered. Lastly, we will be planning for the upcoming RIRA 10th anniversary event!

The RIRA is the Rhode Island affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, a thoughtful national organization of GOP conservatives working to grow and strengthen the Republican Party in the tradition of President Ronald Reagan. This is a dinner meeting, and if you want to eat, you pay for your own meal. Any like-minded conservative Republican is welcome to attend.

For more information, please contact RIRA President Raymond McKay at (401) 487-2514 or president [at] ri-ra [dot] org.
