In 2000, he filed the first civil lawsuit against a terrorist organization under the then untested 1991 Anti-Terrorism Act (the “Klinghoffer Act) promulgated by Congress following the murder of wheel chair-bound Leon Klinghoffer on the Achille Lauro.

Subsequently, he has litigated cases against Syria, Iran, Libya, Hamas, the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Organization on behalf of American terrorism victims in the federal courts of Rhode Island, New York, Chicago, Washington, DC and several Courts of Appeals. He has been the lead counsel in dozens of reported terrorism decisions from federal courts throughout the country.

On behalf of the Ungar orphans, he obtained a $116 million judgment after five years of litigation (400 pleadings, 8 written decisions and 3 appeals to the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court) against Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General, representing the PA and PLO. Subsequently, he obtained a nationwide restraining order against the PA and PLO which restrained hundreds of millions of their assets and paralyzed their US operations, investments and domestic banking functions. He also obtained a $192million judgment against the PA and PLO on behalf of the victims of the bat-mitzvah bombing in Hadera, Israel.

Most recently, he obtained almost $300 million in judgments against Iran. To collect the judgments, Strachman won attachments against Iranian bank accounts and real estate in the US. He was also successful in attaching Iranian antiquities in the US.

Bipartisan Fundraiser for Haitian Relief | Thursday

Rhode Island Democratic Party Chairman Bill Lynch and Rhode Island Republican Party Chairman Giovanni D. Cicione have announced that both parties would come together to host a joint community fundraiser on Thursday in Providence to benefit the victims of the Haitian earthquake.

“Both Chairman Cicione and I felt it was important to put aside political differences and come together to offer our parties’ combined assistance to the good people of Haiti. We’re asking all Democrats, Republicans and independents to join us next Thursday, give whatever they can, and make sure the Haitian people know that Rhode Islanders are standing with them during this critical time of need,” Lynch said.

“As Rhode Islanders, we share a common obligation to assist our friends and neighbors. Haiti is facing a crisis of unimaginable proportion and so I’m hopeful that we can step up as a community and send critical support to a nation that desperately needs our help. The thoughts and prayers of all Rhode Islanders remain with the victims in Haiti and their family members here in the U.S. and around the world,” Cicione said.

The community fundraiser will be held next Thursday, January 21, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at the Roger Williams Park Casino, in Providence. The chairmen said the suggested contribution will be $25, or whatever one feels they can afford. All proceeds will benefit Doctors Without Borders, a relief organization that is rushing to provide assistance to victims in a country that is dramatically under served by medical professionals.

The event will be co-sponsored by The Rhode Island Young Democrats and The Rhode Island Young Republicans. Additionally, the members of Rhode Island’s Congressional delegation, the general officers, and leaders in the General Assembly have been invited and are expected to be in attendance.

Obama Grants INTERPOL Full Diplomatic Immunity in US

Add another one to that gigantic “we told you so” file…

In 1983, President Ronald Reagan issued an Executive Order which gave permission to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) to operate within the boundaries of the United States. Reagan’s EO put INTERPOL under the same basic guidelines as the CIA, FBI, ATF and other Federal law enforcement agencies.

Two weeks ago, without any announcement, debate, discussion or inquiry from journalists charged with “speaking truth to power” President Obama issued an amendment to this EO. The amendment removed part of Reagan’s order that kept INTERPOL from having full diplomatic immunity while operating within the United States. In other words: Under Reagan and right up until two weeks ago, INTERPOL was authorized to operate within the USA but they did not have full diplomatic immunity and had to adhere to certain laws set forth for investigative agencies. Laws that prohibit authorities from violating our constitutionally protected rights…

Sarah Palin: If We’re In It, Let’s Win It

palinwithgunAs Thanksgiving festivities wind down, we contemplate all we have to be thankful for as free Americans! We head into the Christmas season wishing for leadership in Washington that reflects our commitment to the values and ideals that have built the freest and most prosperous and generous nation on earth.

Heading into December and Tuesday’s announcement of our nation’s strategy in Afghanistan, I ask the President to reassure us that the administration is in this War on Terror to win.

And I’ll pass along the following from Harold B. Estes, a 95-year-old member of the Greatest Generation:

“I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son. Do your job. When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him. But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.”

Thank you, Mr. President. Please tell us on Tuesday that America is in it to win.

He’s Ba-ack: Rev. Jeremiah Wright Praises Marxism in New Video

obama_wrightWith friends like these…

A new video of Rev. Jeremiah Wright has surfaced, showing President Barack Obama’s pastor of 20 years praising Marxism and discussing his ties to communists in El Salvador and Nicaragua and the Libyan government…

In this video, which captures Rev. Wright’s appearance at the September 17th, 2009, 60th anniversary celebration of the independent socialist magazine, Monthly Review, Reverend Jeremiah Wright said that while the “corporate media” provide a “binary lens” of the world, in such terms as “communist versus Christian,” Monthly Review offers what it calls “no-nonsense Marxism.”

He added: “You dispel all the negative images we have been programmed to conjure up with just the mention of that word socialism or Marxism.”

He called America “land of the greed and home of the slave.”…

PS And if that wasn’t enough: The contributors to Monthly Review include former Weather Underground terrorist Bernardine Dohrn; Marilyn Buck, another former Weather Underground member; convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal; Bill Fletcher, Jr., a founder of Progressives for Obama; and Chomsky.

Benjamin Netanyahu Refutes Holocaust Deniers at the U.N.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at the United Nations earlier today. In dramatic fashion, he refuted the Holocaust deniers, and basically took the President of Iran out to the woodshed. During the speech, Netanyahu produced and used WWII-era German documents to prove the planning of the Holocaust which would result in the systematic extermination of 6 million Jews by the Nazis.

“The man who called the Holocaust a lie spoke at this podium. To those who refused to come and to those who left in protest, I commend you. You stood up for moral clarity and you brought honor to your countries. But to those who gave this Holocaust denier a hearing, I say on behalf of my people, the Jewish people, and decent people everywhere — have you no shame? Have you no decency?”
