Providence Newspaper Guild Follies | February 24

For quite a few years now, the Rhode Island Republican Assembly has had reserved tables for Republicans at the annual Providence Newspaper Guild Follies. Assuming that The Providence Journal doesn’t shutter its doors and fire everyone by February 24th, this year will be no exception!

Because this great event has long-since outgrown Rhode Island’s ability to contain it, and sales tax is still cheaper in Massachusetts, the Follies will be held on Friday, February 24th at 7:00 PM just over the border at the Venus de Milo Restaurant , 75 Grand Army Highway (Route 6) in Swansea, MA.

This popular dinner and political satire show is attended by every politician, activist, and news media personality in Rhode Island’s political scene, for a total of about 1,250 people. Tickets are $65.00/person. A spectacular buffet dinner is included, and of course, the big show. RIRA has reserved several tables, with the option of reserving more if there is additional demand.

Note: Since this is a union-held event, the audience does tend to skew somewhat Democratic / Leftist / Commie, so be forewarned! RIRA ‘Conservative Comedy Night’ Fundraiser | Saturday

The Rhode Island Republican Assembly PAC is hosting a “Conservative Comedy Night” Fundraiser, featuring “Conservative Liberal Jewish” Californian Comedian ERIC GOLUB on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 21st, 2011. It will be held at the Manville Sportsmen’s Rod & Gun Club, at 250 High Street, in Manville (Lincoln), RI 02838. Check-in starts at 6:30 PM, with the dinner show set to start at 7:00 PM.

In addition to our featured comedian, we will also be “lightly roasting” the following local politicos: John Robitaille, Rep. Doreen Costa, Rep. Mike Chippendale, Rep. Dan Gordon, and Sen. Beth Moura.

There will be a great Italian buffet dinner featuring roasted chicken, pasta, salad, and dessert, with a cash bar. The cost to attend this fun event is only $35.00 per person or $60.00 per couple. As May 21st is Armed Forces Day, we will be recognizing U.S. Military Veterans. Veterans can attend for $30.00 each.

Your RSVP and payment in advance would be greatly appreciated for planning purposes. Funds generated from this event will be used to support local conservative Republican candidates in Rhode Island.

Two weeks ago, Governor Jan Brewer took President Obama to task for making Arizona’s unsecured borders and illegal immigration crisis a laughing matter. However, since then, Washington’s comedy of errors has grown far worse, with top cabinet officials admitting that they haven’t even read Arizona’s new immigration law. Broken borders are not a laughing matter, but the failure by Obama’s trusted officials to read Arizona’s law before commenting and condemning it is laughable.
