This is a reminder that the six major gubernatorial candidates will be meeting for their first televised debate on Thursday night. The debate will be broadcast live from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston on WPRI Channel 12, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The debate will include the following candidates:
John Robitaille, Republican
Victor Moffitt, Republican
Frank Caprio, Democrat
Patrick Lynch, Democrat

Lincoln Chafee, Independent
Dale Peterson is running for Alabama Agriculture Commissioner. It’s apparently a much more important office in Alabama than it is in Rhode Island.
This amazingly well crafted ad has been going viral all over the Internet, so we thought we’d share it with you.
Perhaps a few Republican candidates in Rhode Island could follow his lead…

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Tea party activists say they hope to attract thousands of people to the Rhode Island Statehouse for a tax day rally to protest government spending and call for accountability in the General Assembly.
Among the speakers at Thursday afternoon’s planned rally are John Hannah, a Hall of Fame offensive lineman for the New England Patriots, and a commercial fisherman who’s concerned about the effect of government regulation on his livelihood.
Tea Party head Coleen Conley says the movement’s goal for the next several months is to get candidates elected to office. The movement is focusing on local and General Assembly seats.
About 2,000 people attended the tea party’s first tax day rally in Rhode Island last year…

Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday will be on February 6, 2011. General Electric and the Reagan Foundation today launched their partnership for the “Reagan centennial,” which will result in a number of events to occur over the next year leading up to his birthday.

GE’s participation as a Presenting Sponsor includes:
$10 Million in the form of cash, advertising and promotion to support the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration, including funds to support the completely transformed, state-of-the-art Museum at the Reagan Library that will be unveiled on February 5, 2011. This will include a new General Electric Theater that will focus on Reagan’s career in radio, television, and film.
An additional $5 million to the Reagan Presidential Foundation to launch and support the GE-Reagan Scholars Program, an effort that will begin in 2011 and that will provide 200 four-year college scholarships over the next decade to deserving students who embody the vision and values personified by President Reagan.
A donation to the Reagan Foundation of 208 restored episodes of General Electric Theater in which Ronald Reagan hosted or appeared from 1954-1962. The episodes, many of which were thought to be lost and some of which were damaged, were recently uncovered in GE/NBC Universal archives and restored to broadcast quality for purposes of the renovated Reagan Museum.
An ad campaign and interactive Internet presence located at www.ge.com/reagan to promote the Centennial and honor President Reagan’s service to our nation and time with GE. TV, radio and print advertisements in support of the Centennial that will remind audiences of Reagan’s optimistic spirit as well as his legacy at both GE and as President can be found on this site.
A series of public affairs lectures with Reagan-era luminaries that will focus on President Reagan’s legacy and qualities as a leader. The events will take place at venues around the country with details to be announced in the coming months.

Obama Zombies: New Book by Ex-RI’er Jason Mattera
Jason has been very busy, working as a spokesman for the Young Americas Foundation, as well as most recently as a contributor to the blog, Hot Air. He’s kind of become known for ambushing hated public officials, and making them answer inconvenient questions. Yesterday, he confronted House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer by first “thanking him for all his work on health-care reform.” Then, after he made him feel comfortable, he went on to ambush him, asking him if it was a good idea to sic the IRS on Americans for not buying the right kind of health insurance…
