When I announced my intention to run for Governor almost a year ago now, I knew that my campaign would be an uphill battle against ‘the forces that be’ in Rhode Island politics. For almost a year now you have helped me amass a successful campaign and have put me in contention to be your next Governor. I am humbled and grateful for all of the help and support that you have all offered me. I am writing you one more time to ask for your help.
Tomorrow, November 2nd, is a critical day for all Rhode Islanders. The candidates that you elect to office will be responsible for shaping the policy that will drive this state for years to come. My message has been clear: Career politicians created this mess and they can’t fix it, but together WE can.
I am a native Rhode Islander. I was born in Central Falls, attended Providence College and served in the US Army. I have been a small business owner for over twenty years and I know the difficulties that come with running a business in Rhode Island. I have made a promise to you that I will work day and night to bring Rhode Island back to prosperity. We must lower taxes, reduce the size of government and stream-line permitting and regulations to create jobs.
While my opponents have spent millions of dollars attacking each other, I have run a positive campaign to get my message out to all of you. In times like these we must focus on the issues at hand, not the habitual mudslinging that has crippled this state for years. I am the only candidate in this race that has signed a pledge to veto any tax increase that comes across my desk. In times like these, the last thing we need is to place a heavier burden on the citizens of this great state.
Together we have overcome tremendous obstacles to bring common sense back to Rhdoe Island. I am in a virtual three-way tie and need your help in these final hours to pull me across the finish line. I urge you to tell your friends, family and neighbors to vote tomorrow. In a race this close, every vote will count. My name is John Robitaille, I am running for Governor of Rhode Island, and I would be honored to have your vote tomorrow, November 2nd.
Sincerely,
John Robitaille
