About David:

David Strachman is a partner at McIntyre, Tate and Lynch LLP in Providence, Rhode Island. He graduated Brandeis University and Boston University School of Law and is admitted in several state and federal jurisdictions.

In 2000, he filed the first civil lawsuit against a terrorist organization under the then untested 1991 Anti-Terrorism Act (the “Klinghoffer Act) promulgated by Congress following the murder of wheel chair-bound Leon Klinghoffer on the Achille Lauro.

Subsequently, he has litigated cases against Syria, Iran, Libya, Hamas, the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Organization on behalf of American terrorism victims in the federal courts of Rhode Island, New York, Chicago, Washington, DC and several Courts of Appeals. He has been the lead counsel in dozens of reported terrorism decisions from federal courts throughout the country.

On behalf of the Ungar orphans, he obtained a $116 million judgment after five years of litigation (400 pleadings, 8 written decisions and 3 appeals to the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and Supreme Court) against Ramsey Clark, former U.S. Attorney General, representing the PA and PLO. Subsequently, he obtained a nationwide restraining order against the PA and PLO which restrained hundreds of millions of their assets and paralyzed their US operations, investments and domestic banking functions. He also obtained a $192million judgment against the PA and PLO on behalf of the victims of the bat-mitzvah bombing in Hadera, Israel.

Most recently, he obtained almost $300 million in judgments against Iran. To collect the judgments, Strachman won attachments against Iranian bank accounts and real estate in the US. He was also successful in attaching Iranian antiquities in the US.

Mr. Strachman is the author of Civil Terrorism Law (Lawyers and Judges Publishing 2008), the first full length legal work on civil suits against terrorists and state sponsors of terrorism. He has also published in the Federalist Society’s State Court Docket Watch and has taught dozens of CLE programs. He is an adjunct law professor at Roger Williams University School of Law and Southern New England School of Law.

He has appeared on and/or his cases have been profiled by NBC Evening News, FOX News, CNN, NPR, BBC, CBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Bloomberg and dozens of other newspapers and media outlets in the US and abroad.

Strachman has also represented numerous senior citizens in high profile elder abuse and financial exploitation cases.

Keep America Safe: 100 Hours

Here is a pretty good web ad from “Keep America Safe,” which hammers President Obama for his slow response during the first 100 Hours following the attempted Terrorist Attack aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253.

The ad shows Obama playing golf at key points during the 100 hours, and that he waited 97 hours afterward to make any public statement about it. He then went back to playing golf.

House Republicans Oppose Importation of Terrorists to America

Earlier this year, the House Republicans created a video, “Never Again,” to speak against President Obama’s decision to close Guantanamo Bay prison. Since the announcement was made that some Guantanamo Bay prisoners will be moved to Illinois, they felt the video worth highlighting again. GOP.gov has an entire section on this topic, including information on the Keep Terrorists Out of America Act. Check out the our special section for articles and relevant news.
