WHY WON’T OBAMA ENDORSE CAPRIO?

With President Obama set to come to Rhode Island on Monday to shore up the faltering campaign of leftist Providence Mayor, David Cicilline, there has been quite a buzz in political circles as to why the President hasn’t endorsed his Party’s candidate for Governor.

RIGOP Chairman Giovanni Cicione today asks the Rhode Island Democratic Party the following questions:

Is Obama rewarding Lincoln Chafee, who endorsed the President’s candidacy (while snubbing John McCain who was in Rhode Island the day Chafee announced his support for Obama), by staying out of the race?

Is Obama considering endorsing Chafee as a punishment for Caprio’s dalliances earlier this year with the Republican Party?

Has Caprio asked the President NOT to endorse him because he is trying to look like a responsible conservative instead of a tax hiking liberal?

Will Caprio be campaigning with the President on Monday, standing arm and arm with his Party’s leader and with David Cicilline?

Does Frank Caprio support Obama’s massive spending binge?

“The voters deserve to know,” said RIGOP Chair Giovanni Cicione. “It’s time for the candidates to stand up and let us know who they really are – either they are career politicians playing career politicians games, who look like shape shifting versions of a candidate that attempt to conform to the polling results of the day, or they are leaders like John Robitaille, who present the one and only real version of themselves to the voters.”

President Obama has turned the art of presidential speech making into the art of giving a deposition. You have to look close to catch the nuance and the legal loopholes:

1. The president said he is committed to Afghanistan. Except he made no mention of defeating the Taliban. How can that be? Does he honestly think we can end the al Qaeda threat in South Asia without defeating the Taliban? And why does he keep mentioning the timeline for withdrawal if he is committed to victory no matter what? No one believes Afghanistan will be ready for the kind of transition that just took place in Iraq by 2011. His commitment is rife with caveats and vague. It could mean he will stick it out. It could also mean he will come up with some kind of bogus plan to deal with al Qaeda that justifies cutting and running before finishing the job in Afghanistan.

2. The president said we have entered a new phase in Iraq. But he did not specify what that means. Everyone expects a new Iraqi government to ask the troops to stay beyond 2011. It is not clear whether the president would do that or just cut and run and say “mission accomplished.”

3. The president promised us the finest military in the world. He never said, however, what that meant. He did blame the poor economy on spending money to protect the nation (bogus) and the only “important” defense spending he talked about was about taking care of veterans, which is important, but not defense spending. Thus, he made no real commitment to defense. The “finest military in the world” could mean what ever he wants it to mean and that could mean a really second-rate military that he just calls the finest in the world.

The president in fact managed to make an entire speech without one concrete commitment to securing the freedom, peace, and security of the American people.

He did, however, promise to make the economy his most “urgent” task (as if he can just forget about national security now). Given what he has achieved with the economy so far…we should probably be afraid, very afraid.

Gosh, Washington politicians would never lie to gain our support…

WASHINGTON — When Congress required most Americans to obtain health insurance or pay a penalty, Democrats denied that they were creating a new tax. But in court, the Obama administration and its allies now defend the requirement as an exercise of the government’s “power to lay and collect taxes.”

And that power, they say, is even more sweeping than the federal power to regulate interstate commerce.

Administration officials say the tax argument is a linchpin of their legal case in defense of the health care overhaul and its individual mandate, now being challenged in court by more than 20 states and several private organizations…

“The problem is, if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” [Audible gasps were heard throughout the audience.] Sen. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”

Sen. Kyl also said he reminded President Obama that the President and the Congress has an obligation, a duty, to secure the border.

Introduced to a video with a narrator that said “she’s right here in Barack Obama’s hometown,” Palin stood before an American flag and took on Illinois and its native son.

“Them are fighting words,” Palin said. “They [the students] deserve to go.”

She noted that the school is still sponsoring a trip to China, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

“You know how they treat girls in China?” Palin said. “It makes no sense.”…
