…and the four other networks tell  the White House to go pound sand!

Yesterday, White House officials attempted to bar Fox New’s Major Garrett from a White House “pool” interview of the new “Pay Czar” (we’ll leave the czar discussion to another day). In a tremendous show of solidarity, the other four network members of the White House pool — ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN — all of whom have long shared the costs of pool coverage — with one voice told the White House that “it’s all of us, or none at all.” The White House then backed down.

Could anyone even imagine the Bush White House doing anything like this? Gladly, this unAmerican attempt to single-out and punish Fox News backfired on the White House badly. This is the type of behavior that one might expect of a propaganda operation of a totalitarian country. Fortunately, it still appears that we have a free press in America.
